If nothing will be like before, what challenges did the COVID-19 pandemic pose for industrial relations? This will be the starting point for the second session of “Conversations on Thursday – Renascer com Alma”, an online conference, to be held this Thursday, May 14th, at 9:30 pm, with live transmission via Facebook from PSD Olhão.
While private employers struggle with serious liquidity problems, to guarantee the productivity of companies and maintain all jobs, the public sector is deployed to respond to the emerging needs of the population, in a time of health crisis that increases unemployment and obliges urgent social responses. As for the unions, they are fighting to guarantee the rights of the associated workers, who already have some psychological pressure, in the face of a fragile work environment that promotes their use.
Are the implemented measures functional and sufficient? What impact, what constraints, what changes for the future are foreseen? Is telecommuting here to stay? These and other issues will set the tone for a debate in the public interest, which is intended to clarify matters regarding industrial relations.
In the panel of speakers will be:
Representing the Public Administration Sector
Carlos Baía: Councilor with the HR Department in CM-Faro
João Barnabé: Coordinator of the Algarve Regional Section of SINTAP
Representing the Private Sector
Paulo Alentejano: President of the Board of ACRAL
The debate will be moderated by António Andrade, CPS secretary of PSD Olhão.
Taking advantage of the social isolation, PSD Olhão decided to promote the debate of ideas, in search of the best answers for the main sectors of activity in the municipality, through this cycle of videoconferences that started on April 30th. The first session discussed the impact of the pandemic on the local catering, accommodation and commerce sector and has seen over 5600 views.
Always on Thursday nights, on dates to be announced, the “Conversations on Thursday – Renascer com Alma” aim to meet the concerns of Olhanenses, through a proximity dialogue, accessible via the Internet, in the comfort of home.
