PSD Olhão announces all the leaders of the list to Local Elections 2021
The Political Section Committee of Olhão, of the Social Democratic Party, recently elected, to propose to the council electorate, those it believes to be the most credible and capable to win the confidence of Olhanenses, in the leadership of the Autarchies of our Municipality.
The choice of these candidates is based on a mix of experience with renewal, betting on citizens with a strong presence in their geographical areas and committed to working for the common good.
This team will present a harmonious development plan, supported by an attractive program, which meets the real needs of the population, making the Municipality of Olhão more prosperous and evolved.
Luiz Trindade, President of PSD Olhão, says that “we are creating a new force to believe that it is possible to do more and better, in a coordinated effort, in search of a victory dynamic that will mark a huge turning point in a municipality where the Socialist Party has “(de) governs”, uninterruptedly, since 1976 ”.

Álvaro Viegas
Candidate for city mayor of Olhão
Álvaro Viegas, lawyer, 57 years old, is the candidate for Mayor of Olhão. He was a deputy to the Assembly of the Republic in the V, VI and IX legislatures, Vice-President of CCDR Algarve (2004) and Deputy Director of the CDSS of Faro (2002). He was also President of the board of ACRAL (1999 and 2016).
He is currently President of the General Assembly of ACRAL, President of the General Assembly of ATA (Associação de Turismo do Algarve) and President of the Delegation of the Bar Association of Olhão.
Abúndio Martins
Candidate for the Municipal Assembly of Olhão
Eduardo Abúndio Martins de Sousa, 62, born in Olhão, is the head of the list for the Municipal Assembly. He is a lawyer and was already a candidate for Mayor of Olhão, in 2009, having been elected councilman without portfolio, and to the Parish of Olhão, in 2001, having been part of the Parish Assembly. Professionally, in the past, he was a public school teacher, real estate agent, commercial department manager at Valentim de Carvalho and tourism animator.
For more than twenty years, he dedicated himself to journalism, publishing regularly in newspapers of local, regional and national scope and conducting various programs on local radio stations. He is also an award-winning writer, with an edited book and several publications in compilations.
Manuel Carlos Sousa
Candidate for the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho-Fuseta
Manuel Carlos Teodoro de Sousa, 58 years old, runs again as President of the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuseta, a position he currently holds. In 2013, he was elected for the first time President of the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuseta, having been reelected in 2017. In 1993, on the political path, he was elected for the first time to the Parish Assembly of Moncarapacho, having been Secretary of the Bureau of the Assembly . Then, he held the position of Secretary of the Parish Council for four terms.
With a degree in Management from the University of Algarve, he has a postgraduate degree in Taxation, obtained at the same educational institution, and attends a degree in History, at the Open University. For 20 years, he was a manager at a multinational Floriculture company and is currently a certified accountant.
Cláudia Sofia Sousa
Candidate for the parish of Olhão
Cláudia Sofia Sousa is the candidate for the parish of Olhão. The current Secretary of the Political Committee of PSD Olhão was elected a member of the Quelfes Parish Assembly in 2017. She is 41 years old and has a degree in Social Communication. Daughter of entrepreneurs established in Olhão since 1986, she is a writer, with an edited book, publications in several collections and a personal blog. Between 2017 and 2019, she was a volunteer in the Portuguese League Against Cancer.
For some years, she worked as a journalist, director of marketing and communication and is currently an online marketing and sales manager at the family business.
Eduardo Palminha
Candidate for the Parish of Quelfes
Eduardo Palma Palminha, 64, is the candidate for the Parish of Quelfes. He was elected a member of the Quelfes Parish Assembly in 1997 and a Member of the Olhão Municipal Assembly in 2001.
A well-known businessman, established in the parish of Quelfes for over 30 years, he is also currently President of Casa do Benfica in Olhão.
Luís Serra
Candidate for the Parish of Pechão
Luís Serra is an independent candidate for the parish of Pechão. He is 47 years old and has a legal background. The last 21 years have been dedicated to the financial area.
He is currently Financial Advisor at one of the main national banks, being responsible for the Private Banking area for the Algarve region.
