Lack of water in the Algarve under discussion at Conversas à Quinta

The “Conversations on Thursday” do not take a vacation and in August they bring up a topic as essential as water. In the hottest and most touristic month of the year in the Algarve region, “The lack of water in agriculture and the environment” will be the motto for the next videoconference promoted by PSD Olhão, broadcast via Facebook, Thursday, August 13, at 9:30 pm .

The rain that fell in March and April, together with a reduction in consumption associated with the pandemic of COVID-19, have alleviated the drought in the Algarve somewhat, but the situation is far from reassuring, warn experts, who insist on need for greater savings and efficiency in water consumption.

To help us identify solutions, in response to the question “How do you solve the lack of water in the Algarve?”, We will have a panel of invited experts in the field:

Rui Cristina – Member of Parliament
Macário Correia – Former Secretary of State for the Environment, Former Deputy and Former Mayor
Fernando Severino – Former Regional Director of Agriculture and Fisheries

The debate will be moderated by lawyer Álvaro Viegas.

Born out of the need to promote a close dialogue in times of social isolation, the videoconferences “Conversations on Thursday – Renascer com Alma”, promoted by PSD Olhão, will go on in the fifth session and will continue in the coming months, always on Mondays Thursdays of each month, trying to meet the key themes of political and social news.
