Summary of the 2nd videoconference “Conversas Soltas”

O papel social das MSD

To mark International Women’s Day, PSD Olhão gave a voice to Social Democratic Women, an informal movement within the PSD, whose main objective is to attract more women to politics. The conversation was:

Lina Lopes – National coordinator of MSD

Maria da Graça Carvalho – President of the Francisco Sá Carneiro Institute

Cláudia Luz – MSD Algarve Coordinator

To date, we have no economics ministers, no planning ministers and I ask why? So many women with doctorates that we have! I ask: what is the problem with us wanting an organization that brings more women into politics?

Lina LopesNational MSD Coordinator

The councils have the power to present their candidates. But if the dominance is essentially masculine, your choices fall on men and therefore I think it is crucial also to have more women in the party structures.
