PSD municipal proposal is the big bet of António Costa’s government for Olhão
The members of the PSD Municipal Group in the Olhão Municipal Assembly, Francisco Moleiro and Nélia Alfarrobinha, attended the “Presentation of the MetroBus Preliminary Study”, which took place this Wednesday, March 1st, at 3pm, in the old premises of Alicoop/Litografia, with the presence of Mr. Prime Minister, António Costa.
Incredulous and stupefied, the PSD representatives attended the presentation of a project that had been refused by the current PS municipal executive, but valued by António Costa’s Government, meeting the determinations of the 2021 Municipal Electoral Programme subscribed by the Olhão PSD, where one can read:
“PARKING is a big problem, transversal to so many other Portuguese cities. One way to solve the problem is to create car parks in more peripheral areas (parks outside the urban centre) with shuttle services to the main points (markets, embarkation quays for the islands), thus relieving the pressure of parking in the city centre, where any other solution is architecturally complicated.”
We also recall that on 17-12-2020, in the Municipal Assembly, the acquisition of the former Litografia land was approved, for the construction of 200 residential units for affordable rent, with a total investment of 20,000,000.00 euros.
In the opinion of the Olhão PSD, the acquisition of this land in a central area of the town, for yet another Social Neighbourhood, is a bad investment, we stressed at the time, suggesting in a verbal statement:
“In the space provided, for example, housing could be built at controlled costs for sale to young couples, or even to others who wish to come and live in our municipality, or even collective equipment of municipal interest, such as parking, a road interface or others that should be studied by the municipal executive”.
We must remember that already on 08-02-2021, and as stated in our electoral programme, the leader of the PSD municipal bench, Francisco Moleiro, in a verbal declaration in the Municipal Assembly, proposed the purchase of the old Alicoop/Litografia, to make the intermodal interface with 4 main objectives:
– Multi-storey car park for temporary parking of various types
– Minibus
– EVA buses
– Direct access to the train station.
In this sense, the Political Committee of Olhão PSD believes that it is on the right track, seeing its options confirmed as being the right ones for the development of Olhão Municipality, welcoming the vision and option of António Costa’s Government in presenting a solution for the same location, going a little further than the proposal we idealised.
